You maybe wear a lot of makeup, but you don’t wear so much that it looks cheap. This whole country dresses down, unlike the eighties where people spent a lot of time and money on their wardrobe. When I was a kid in the 80’s people wore suits and nice dresses to church. Now people show up in a tee shirt, jean shorts, and no makeup. I am not sure what changed, but dress has changed a lot. Anyway, my point is you look good in your makeup. I wish more women today would take more time to put on makeup. Anyway, you’re cute, and you’ve got it going on. Never mind the gawkers.

Kansas summers suck ass. i go hide in the the mountains in the next state over or hide in a hole. There’s a reason pioneers dug their houses out, when i get property I will dig my house out as well. as far as fun, kansas people go mudding, do drugs, rant and rave on the internet, do sports, and sometimes all of those things at once. we have the perfect land for flying. i love living next to little mexico in wichita and going over there, to get some cheap spices, but i sure as hell avoid that place at night, lot of gun shots over there.

Born in Wichita and now live in Kansas. Its true people aren’t creative with their style. Maybe it’ll change since people online shop more but I hated our shopping there. Its like everyone has the same stuff.

9:10 who gives a fuck about teenagers? I couldn’t stand them when I was one and I sure as fuck can’t stand them now. They can hang out at home in their yards or some shit. Don’t need loud and obnoxious fuckheads occupying the same area I am.

Love this video. Most people complain about living in Kansas. I grew up in a small town here- population 2,500ish. And nothing beats the love and hospitality of a small town. I moved away for 6 months and hated it. I love Kansas. We hung out with each other- high school sports games, bonfires, boonie cruising, going to sonic, going to each other’s houses. And when we did want to go to the movies or the mall or bowling or whatever, we had to drive 30 minutes to an hour, so it made going out even more special and fun. The state is beautiful and love it’s crazy unpredictable weather. Love being from a one stoplight town.

Does Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa still experience brain drain? And if so why? Slow, small town living is where it’s at.

Grew up there. Kansas is not for singles. Its for families to raise children and live a low key life. Its not miami. Dont even try to make it into another armpit.

  26. Tori Stars on January 14, 2021 at 12:46 am

You should check out Wichita. I think you might like it a little better. It’s culturally diverse, the "biggest" city in Kansas, still has more stuff to do, and is spread across so you still don’t feel crowded. The east side of town is really nice. Housing is cheap in Kansas as is, but you can buy a VERY nice home for 1/3rd of the price in Kansas. The malls here are ok. The east side is bigger and has many more stores. We have an arena that has a lot of good bands, Riverfest, and a lot of other things around.

  29. Tori Stars on January 14, 2021 at 12:52 am

Oh and driving an hour to go to a mall is a VERY normal thing in Kansas. The VAST majority of towns don’t even have a wal-mart, so everybody drives at least 20-50 minutes to go shopping at bigger cities.

Sports thing-I could give a shit less about it LOL I don’t care about sports, never liked it besides tennis, and won’t make my kids think they gotta do it! My husbands family is definitely sports fans and always watches sports though. I think it just depends on family dynamics.

Kansas population is like 80% or 90% white and even tho I’m white I don’t want to live somewhere that has that high of a % for white ppl. I like very diverse places and not to sound petty but I’m more into guys of color anyways 😂😂 but im being forced to live there anyways

  31. KeepingItKalissa on January 14, 2021 at 12:53 am

I agree! I just moved here and I lived all over the states. Topeka is beautiful and the people are very nice. I agree I do stand out 😂. I am hoping to find at least find a store where I can find cute clothes outside of rue21.

  32. Victoria Cassell on January 14, 2021 at 12:54 am

Hey love, are you still living in Topeka? I might be moving there soon and wanted to meet, hangout, dress "extra" lolll and go shopping and stuff if you’re down. Also, I don’t know anyone there. But I love your vibes and personality. And thanks so much for the awesome information!!!

  33. Alfredo Sigala on January 14, 2021 at 12:57 am

I don’t think it was destined but you and I traded places. I lived in Kansas from 2000 til ’18, then hit vegas for a year and now in the bay area. I won’t disagree with you on anything except the fact that you are white, but with a native tan. White only means your ancestors are from European decent. (I am Spanish, chip chip cheerio!) Make sure to mark this correctly in the census. Enjoy the slow life and keep the optimism! Happy quarantine!

Grew up in Dodge City. Moved to Anaheim in my late teens once my parenta divorced and hated it!!!! Always wanted to move back. I am a software engineer and I have seen the tech hub is now very active in Kansas City. Going to seriously consider moving back. Everyone used to think I was crazy any time I mentioned moving back and it is very refreahing seeing people see what Kansas is all about.

Lived there, when I was 15 years-old. Learned English, loved how nice people were, and had such a great experience. I just did not like the loneliness and not having many things to do. However, I miss Topeka and Lawrence, and I will always be thankful for all the learning and good memories I got there.

I grew up in Topeka (Oakland area) and lived there a few times, for about 22 years total, but every time I go back, I fell like I’m time travelling 20 years into the past. I swear, one of the last times I was there, I saw 80’s concert shirts being worn with 80’s style haircuts(big hair, even mullets)
