My secret to staying slim is to drink (about a shot worth) of pickle juice (or olive juice) a few times a week, or as often as you like. When I’m really craving pickle juice, I’ll do this daily for a week or two. I swear something in the vinegar helps cleanse the body and rebalances it, including keep excess weight off.

  5. FAB FAB on September 13, 2021 at 6:56 pm

In Germany same i saw very rare overweight people. Same here in Morocco. The only food that we all crazy about it is home made bread. Ouaaaaa. But i don’t eat bread

  6. MyPoint ofView on September 13, 2021 at 6:56 pm

Thank you for sharing that you also fast. It makes sense to allow the body to properly digest food. I’ve been doing this for a while and lost 2 stone.

  7. Elaine FLynn on September 13, 2021 at 6:57 pm

Elimination very very important. I do intermittent fasting if I’m not going out. I mostly eat 2 meals a day. I skip breakfast when I’m doing intermittent fasting. I started this over 4 years ago and it is incredible to keep weight down and you have loads of energy.

  8. Lucy Verissimo on September 13, 2021 at 6:58 pm

Great advice Frederique, I’m Canadian and this is how I eat, fruit in the morning til dinner time then an nice salad in the summertime and cooked vegetable dish in the wintertime. I cheat on the weekends and I fast once a month. I’ve never had a weight problem and at 52 my body feels fantastic! What’s men-o-pause?

Unfortunately I lived most my life in California, lots of very fresh foods always. Inland everyone eats boxed, canned, frozen food.
Fresh always costs more in USA grocery stores. Sad but true.

  13. June Mendes Singh on September 13, 2021 at 7:09 pm

Love your way of looking at the food in the right spirt…yes it best being practical n listening to your body

  14. Soraya Calleja on September 13, 2021 at 7:09 pm

Hi! You are right, however I have to say is not something French, I’m Spanish, for the North, and I am living in England from almost 10 year…I’ve been living with Frech people who clearly were feeding their selfs quite bad 😬. Being humble I think this happen in places where the food-cooking culture is important. 😁🤗

  15. Monona on September 13, 2021 at 7:10 pm

Portions in US , one serving can feed 8 people 😂

My secret to having a great reaction with food and staying slim: cook at home!

  17. Karina Guerra on September 13, 2021 at 7:16 pm

    Spot on. Very reasonable.

  20. marg on September 13, 2021 at 7:19 pm

The huge portions in USA are relatively new. My husband and I compensate by splitting entrees. We love our meals and never feel hungry.

  21. Rosslin Kuurien on September 13, 2021 at 7:19 pm

    Perfectly said. Thank you

  22. datesare ffruit on September 13, 2021 at 7:20 pm

Excellent advice! Exactly my principles, fresh wholefood, high raw (salads and fruit), no processed, moderate exercise, enjoy food (around social interaction). I can’t always manage social mealtimes but I recognise how important it is. It’s really not as complicated as diet gurus try to make out.

  23. Rebecca Jones on September 13, 2021 at 7:22 pm

Biggest tip: Do not snack between meals. The key is that she wants to fit in all her clothes. Me too.

  24. Nathalie Hofsink on September 13, 2021 at 7:22 pm

Such common sense, practical advice. Frédérique, you are a breath of fresh air here on YouTube; a class act!

  25. Aidtom on September 13, 2021 at 7:22 pm

Two meals is enough no snacking

  26. Aidtom on September 13, 2021 at 7:23 pm

Julie goudon my French girl I loved 20 year’s ago said she cut out dairy foods and she had a lovely body.

  27. Creative Cheers of Fashion Laura Flohr on September 13, 2021 at 7:23 pm

I only eat fruits and vegetables, sometimes some whole grain rice and some diary. I don’t snack, only eat fruit or nuts in between. I never eat junk food, fast food or street food. Never done , just don’t like it. Still I am not really slim but okay. I cannot exercise anymore because I am chronically ill but I worked out 16 hours a week before I got sick and I think that is my savior.

You are absolutely right about french way of eating….lot to learn from your way of eating and enjoying food.

  34. Zaly_d on September 13, 2021 at 7:28 pm

I agree with everything you are saying specially portion control.I visited Aruba for 1 week and ate out 3 meals. I lost 5lbs when I returned to America. Their portions are smaller, they serve more veggies less protein and I walked everywhere.

  35. ingrid on September 13, 2021 at 7:29 pm

    Farmers markets are your friends.

  40. Senorita Steffy on September 13, 2021 at 7:38 pm

Great video! You’re right, it’s so much better to sit down and enjoy your food. I get up extra early when I’m working just so that I can sit down and enjoy my breakfast, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. I’m not a "grab a slice of toast as I dash out of the door" girl – no way! I think the Continental approach to food is definitely different, and so much better. The Spanish love to sit round the table with friends and family and really enjoy their food, instead of sitting in front of the TV with a takeaway like so many people here do. I’m not a gym person either, I do exercises at home from YouTube, which is great because i can find ones that target the parts of the body I particularly need to work on. I won’t make a list – I’ll be here all night! 😀

  41. Leah Abbott on September 13, 2021 at 7:38 pm

You mention fasting. This is the trick because it allows you to lower your insulin which is the hormone that leads to gaining weight. Check out Jason Fung’s videos. Incredibly enlightening!!! Love your videos!!

  42. Michael Connolly on September 13, 2021 at 7:39 pm

This is the best ever video on weight loss. Full of practical advice, common sense and discussed so clearly with amazing easy to incorporate tips.

  43. suzie james on September 13, 2021 at 7:39 pm

Agree with what you are saying and its how I keep slim. I’m British but follow a Mediterranean diet with loads of fresh fruit and veg and lots of fish, hardly ever eat meat. I also weigh everything I eat as portion control is so important. Agree about the American salad, absolutely huge. My favourite diet would have to be Greek, especially eaten on my favourite Greek island. 🌞

  44. Loren LASH on September 13, 2021 at 7:40 pm

I think another "magical" aspect of French food is that using fat and butter isn’t avoided (it’s demonized in the US) which allows your body to be satiated without eating massive volumes of food. Fat is good for you. If you don’t get enough QUALITY fat you’ll be more likely to eat too much starch and sugar! Great video

  45. P A on September 13, 2021 at 7:40 pm

What a beautiful video. I’ve gone on fact finding mission by watching documentaries and reading medical publications and speaking to a dietitian. Everything mention in this video is supported by medical processionals. Unfortunately in the US the food industry is focused on the bottom dollar with flooding its citizens with fast food, processed foods, GMOs. factory raised antibiotic laden animals and a host of other unhealthy additives. It’s hard not to not be affected my the commercialization of our food here in the US. Thank you so much for this video.

    Eat less exercise more

  48. Belabotum on September 13, 2021 at 7:43 pm

Today I was not eating my French diet. I ate too many carbs today. When I eat French food I eat healthy and less! A couple days ago I made a arugula salad with mushrooms and tomato and my pork roast in wine with asparagus. Then I made my poached pears and felt better even the next day! I buy fine cheese and procuitto and buy baguette all sliced with apples and grapes. And the rest you know. Breakfast is hard boiled eggs with cheese and coffee maybe a half scone. So, When I eat fast food I feel like garbage. I do love a good boef ragout! ❤️

  49. Karina Guerra on September 13, 2021 at 7:45 pm

personally prefer Italian or latin food, french i find too bland.

Where I live you can only get your essentials or go to work by car. It’s too hot and everything is too far.I miss walking, going to the market.
