What’s up guys Thomas here today to tell you the truth about how these so called “diet” sodas are really effecting your weight loss efforts…

And the truth is, they’re moving you backwards instead of forwards when it comes to improving the shape of your body.

Now these drinks are calorie free, which technically should help people lose weight and prevent sugar-related diseases…

1:10 – However, the evidence for these beverages having any use is completely nonexistent. Which brings me to my first terrible aftermath from drinking diet sodas, side effect #4: Metabolic syndrome.

1:29 – There is a lot of evidence supporting the fact that regularly drinking diet sodas can actually cause what researchers call “Metabolic syndrome”… Which is a series of risk factors that can lead to diabetes, stroke and in extreme cases, heart attacks.

1:50 – Now this condition is defined as having or experiencing at least 3 of the following symptoms – excessive belly fat or clinical obesity, high blood pressure, high fasting glucose (those with sugar-packed diets), high triglycerides and low amounts of your body’s good cholesterol.

Drinking “calorie free” beverages instead of sugary ones does not appear to be helpful against the metabolic syndrome.

2:03 – In fact, looking at the research, sugar is really not the only culprit that is affecting your health like the mainstream media is making it appear… And just because diet sodas are “sugar free”, it doesn’t mean that they are healthy…

2:21 – In a study published in the journal Circulation in 2008, which followed 9,514 people for 9 years, drinking artificially sweetened beverages was associated with a 34% greater risk of developing the metabolic syndrome.

2:50 – Now onto side effect #3: There is an association between diet soda and depression.

3:30 – Nutrition and dietary experts are relating these findings to once again, the myriad of chemicals and synthetic ingredients found within diet drinks.

4:00 – Side effect #2: Drinking diet soda increases your risk for diabetes.

4:50 – Now, as everyone knows, the past decade of health surveys have revealed massive increases in populations develops diabetes… This disease is highly associated with obesity and sugar consumption, so most believe that replacing sugary beverages with calorie-free drinks would help…

5:17 – But according to the reports – it’s quite the opposite.
A study of 6,814 individuals aged 45-85 years, daily consumption of diet soda was associated with a 67% increased risk of type II diabetes. In another French study, women were studied for 14 years and it was found that women who consumed the most diet drinks had a 121% greater risk of developing type II diabetes.

5:46 – I hate to be the barer of bad news – especially because the main reason people switch to diet drinks is to cut back on calories in order to lose weight… However, the numbers don’t lie people.

6:15 – And now, the final side effect. Drinking diet soda can actually make you fat.

6:38 – There are even many short-term trials that show that artificial sweeteners can increase appetite and food intake in the short-term compared to sugar.

6:50 – So the take away here guys is to not to choose between diet and regular soda – it’s to forego both. Instead, try drinking unsweetened beverages like coffee, tea, mineral water or 100 percent fruit juice… Or better yet, stick to plain, old water!

Thank you guys for watching!

Ok being lean and healthy are very important. But the fact is:: this guy and others like him need to get a hobby other than devoting their lives to looking like that. Super lame!! Is this your way of getting women? Are you that insecure that you need to have more muscles than everyone else in the room? What is it?

Well That’s Scary About Getting Diabetes. I’m On A Water Fast. Day 11 And I Decided To Drink A Diet Soda Becasue It Has 0 Calories And Small Amount Of Sodium. Boy Did I Come Alive And Motivated. I Thought The Label Was Misleading And the Soda Had Calories But It’s The Fake Sugar That Triggered Insulin. I Will Say I Went From Laying In Bed Feeling Extremely Tired All Day To Getting Up And Doing All Kinds Of Work Around The House. Truly Insane How Much Energy And How Much Better I Felt After Drinking S Diet Soda… But The Insulin Resistance Developed Over Time Has Me Terrified. I Never Drink Soda I’ve Always Been Drinking Water And Eating Salads 247. I’ve Lost 75Lbs In 4 Months And Can Keep The Weight Off.

Whey protein also has artificial sweeteners and you still drink it. Explain how I drink diet coke every single day and I’m still ripped and shredded, explain it, come on 😉

I lost 80 pounds with diet soda. Didn’t drink water. Drank diet tea too. I got another 80 to go. I’m doing intermittent fasting with water. Finally after years of trying to get used to the taste. I’m finally okay with it. And already in the last year limited soda. I’ve been on and off my diet for months. It’s time to go even harder. Might go back on low carb soon and see if I can reverse diabetes which I haven’t been tested for but my brain fog don’t lie. It’s brutal and the reason I want to get healthier. Slowly but surely learning to eat less processed foods and more fruit and less sugar and carbs.

A lot of triggered soda drinkers in here. If you think diet soda is a healthier choice, you’re a moron.

Why don’t you link to the actual scientific reports. I’d like to see for myself because this goes contrary to my experience and research I have read myself that says that there has been no negative symptoms associated with aspartame. I’m drinking about 8 cans of diet soda a day and I have no problem losing weight and it helps me kill hunger.

We very seldom drink a whole can of soda with a meal, so we both
stopped drinking soda from 12 oz (355 ML) cans and now drink
16.9 oz (500 ml) bottles of soda so we can put the twist caps back on,
and put half back in the fridge, so we can finish the soda the next day.
Most people feel obligated to finish a can, once the pop tab is opened.
Reusing the twist caps keeps a bottle of soda from going "flat".
I tend to drink more instant coffee (with milk & no sugar)
and fruit juice to further reduce my consumption of sugar.

  38. TinfoilHatGirl on October 11, 2020 at 8:50 pm

I agree in that regard that I want to highly reduce my diet coke intake but more because it is just a chemical concoction that cannot be healthy. But the mentioned arguments are way too vague and contradict other people’s real life experiments like measuring your blood sugar after drinking diet coke and such.

  39. Darius Wilson on October 11, 2020 at 8:52 pm

diet Pepsi helped me big time curb my sweet tooth just don’t drink it all day one 16 oz once a day is fine.Plus ZERO calories.

Explain how I lost over 100+ pounds while drinking Coke Zero lol This is total bs. Its what fat ppl chose what to eat for fatty foods with their diet sodas. I dieted with Coke Zero and like I said. This is nonsense.

  42. L K on October 11, 2020 at 8:57 pm

Funny thing is how you demonize aspartame and artificial sweeteners in diet coke yet you don’t have a problem with consuming artificial sweeteners in your whey protein. This video is pure bro science bs. I really hope nobody will believe in these lies.

  43. Trainer Red on October 11, 2020 at 8:57 pm
